Our Process
At Jones Financial Group, we use a consultative approach and build our investment strategies around your values and goals.
Each step of our process demonstrates our commitment to you and to your unique story.
Though Jones Financial Group is a business, we view our role in a much larger context. We see ourselves as bridge builders — using our knowledge to demystify the investment world and to access dynamic financial services and strategies. By doing so, we empower you to put your assets to work as a strategic tool, creating a clearer, more confident path toward your desired destination — the life of your choosing.
PHASE 1: Discovery
We begin by establishing a relationship. You tell us what your goals are, and we design investment strategies that align with those goals. From years of experience, we have learned how to help clients through the discovery process of formulating their goals and crafting a values-based financial plan. Most people have at least a general idea of what they want in 10, 15, or 30 years down the road. But, they may need an experienced ear to help them discover how their deepest values can be expressed in financial and life goals. Patricia is adept at working with clients to clarify their goals and determine what their customized financial strategy should be.
In the discovery step, we consider all relevant aspects of your financial picture, including investment goals, time horizon, risk tolerance, income needs, performance expectations, retirement dreams, and so on. From this exercise, we will construct your portfolio.
PHASE 2: Build your investment strategy¹
With strategic asset management, we have access to many investments. We manage five risk-based portfolio strategies from which we design a customized portfolio with your goals in mind. Supported by LPL Financial research, we consider critical elements of sound portfolio design such as asset allocation, diversification, investment types, risk/reward aspects of asset classes, and so on. Weighing all those factors and your goals, we identify the most appropriate investment strategy for you. Your portfolio may include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, exchange-traded funds, cash equivalents, and other investments.
PHASE 3: Implement your portfolio
When everything is ready, we take the following steps to implement your portfolio:
- Transition your existing securities.
- Determine the type of account ownership and beneficiaries.
- Discuss other sources of funds.
- Complete and sign all paperwork.
PHASE 4: Review and manage your portfolio²
Once your investments are in place, we’ll review and manage your portfolio on an ongoing basis. Your portfolio will be reviewed periodically and adjusted when needed, to help maintain the optimal allocation of your investments.
Ongoing management includes:
- Regular meetings and discussions with you so you can feel comfortable with your continued strategy.
- Active, ongoing portfolio reviews.
- Periodic re-examination of your investment strategy to make sure it remains aligned with your financial situation and your goals.
- Portfolio rebalancing if needed.
- Consolidated quarterly performance reports.
